Self Portrait In Progress

This represents my second visit with this piece. Its hard to really look at myself for a long time so I tend to work in 30 to 40 minute intervals. This is a drawing of me drawing myself. I guess that is the definition of a self portrait done from life.

Dallas Airport Shoeshine Lady

During last years many travels, I had the opportunity to spend a little time in the Dallas Texas airport. The light was interesting. I liked the female shoeshine person and her female client. I had my shoes shined once t0 photograph the project (the last roll of film I developed myself). Its nice to watch their hands move.

Bar Chatter In Progress

Where I am now. As I look at this series, I'm noticing that my contrasts are getting more extreme. That's not a bad thing, in my opinion, because we are told that contrast generates attention. As I have said many many times before, I love painting events largely because of the experience.

Under Guard

Usually a person in custody is brought before the judge with a guard in tow. The defendant is required to keep his hands behind him for the guard to see. This protects members of the public, the judge and to the dismay of many the lawyers.

Me Filming Waves

When I'm out shooting I normally carry three cameras. Lately Pam has "borrowed" one of them to take pictures of me in my element. I was in Carmel, California filming waves in tide pools. If I remember correctly, I had to run from an unexpected big wave. This is what I got in the first session with this piece. In the next post you will see that I at times don't leave well enough alone.
