Booty Dance (study)

This is a study done with Copic markers. I plan on doing a larger pastel and/or watercolor version. The performer was entertaining both the band and the audience.

Study Rip Tide

Half Moon Bay in Northern California. As we walked down to the beach there was a sign that warned of rip tides. As a result and thankfully so parents/guardians held onto the toddlers. This is a 12 by 16 inch drawing utilizing copic markers.

Berkeley Marina II

This area is part of the Berkeley marina. While painting I saw lots of sailboats gliding by. For this one I focused on the scene without the boats. The park was filling up with memorial day celebrants. I painted this one from a picnic table by the bay. One sailboat capsized right in front of us. I caught the action on camera. The guys on the next table laughed because they thought their friends were the ones in the water.

Half Plein Air Pacifica

I did the initial outlines for this piece while on site with Copic Markers. Upon my return that night I added the watercolor. This is another image captured near the fishing pier in Pacifica, California. Instead of stopping at our favorite Princeton Seafood Company, we stopped at yet another favorite called the Flying Fish. I like their salads and seafood too. Dick Blick has this watercolor paper called Fluid. They have lots of different formats too. This pad was 8 by 16 inches.

Sky Flower

This is a tree in Pam's yard. I was laying back in the shade and saw these flowers hanging above me. I thought the long format was ideal for it. I also got a few shades darker as I was sitting in the sun while painting it.

Berkeley Marina (plein air)

I struggled with this painting from value study to painting. The scene was busy and I really wasn't very successful in narrowing my view. I just concentrated on getting the shapes not the overall boats. It was beautiful outside and I appreciated being out in it..
