Yet another tomato but so different from the others.

Plein air piece done while sitting on my brother's porch. I should have edited out the stop sign because its right down the middle. Oh well see and learn.

Night Time Tree Shadows

I painted this little watercolor while sitting on my sister's porch in Commerce about two weeks ago. It was peaceful and the air was earthy. It was night time and the street lamps made for nice long tree shadows.

Two More Left

I made a salad so there are now two tomatoes. I used Yarka St.St Petersburg Watercolors on this one. Those paints are highly saturated with pigment. Fellow artist Robert Hickey told me about them years ago.

Commerce Square Plein Air

During my last trip to Commerce I spent some time painting and sketching in our downtown coffee shop. Its an interesting little space with multiple views of the square.

The Muse (reworked)

I kept wanting to change this up after I had declared it finished. It wasn't framed so I spent two more sessions with it. I wanted to further define the shadows and light to convey movement.

Jammin (fini)

This one is done. I could play with it a lot more and I may but I want to keep the energy of it alive.

This is another painting of the exterior of Little Joe's in downtown San Francisco. Good food too.

A Tomato Painting and Show News

This one of two paintings that were juried into this years Austin Pastel Society spring show. I painted with Rembrandt Pastels on Canson paper.

This is one I intend to have in my gallery space during the Art Beats reception on the 26th. This is where I was during my second session with the painting.

Guitar Man (Show Announcements)

This piece was juried into the "Art Beats" show at Austin Art Space. The theme of the show is music in celebration of South by Southwest. We will have a gallery reception (party) on March 26th from 6:30 to 8:30 come on by if you are around. The show runs from March 9th to April 2.

Orange Pepper 3

Another in the pepper series. The camera didn't record the color accurately for the top background. In person I think the values are cooler almost lavender in person.

Check This Out (In progress)

I posted the study for this painting last week. Just a few more strokes and I'm calling this one done. I was walking around downtown San Francisco and saw these two guys almost mesmerized by something on a smart phone. Of course I had to get the photo.
