Corner Hustle and Seasonal Bloom 2
If you frequent the downtown area you will encounter many people trying to hustle money or your signature for a cause. I bet only tourists actually stop and engage with them.I was sitting on the steps of Starbuck's coffee when I snagged this sketch across the street.
Another addition to my "counter top" series. Daffodils painted from life in oil on Arches paper.

The Bridge Beyond
One of the views from my hotel room in Charleston, South Carolina. When I got there I set up and painted a small 5 by 7 from my hotel room. I used that and some photos to complete this larger piece.

Gloomy With Umbrellas
I love what we call gloomy days. They inspire me because one reflects a lot more. My friend Kim Bloom took this photo on one of her trips. Its always fun to paint from a different perspective. This painting was done on Pastel Premier paper. I bought it from my friend Lisa Wright who manages Asel Art here in Austin. I love buying as local as I can and Asel Art supports the local art community.
I started with a watercolor underpainting and proceeded to layer on pastels. This surface, in my opinion, does not take many layers. I would suggest treating it like Canson paper. I liked working with it.

Ready To Drop
When I painted this still life the petals were ready to drop. The flowers were on their last few days. I like the colors and the shapes in this stage. Of course I worked from life and once the flowers were done I added some color and played with the shapes. When I looked at the image on the screen I saw a lady sitting at a table with flowers. Tell me what the background reveals for you.

Morning Rooftops
I painted this picture while standing in Pam's kitchen one morning. I love the morning light in California.

The Music of Flowers
When you let tulips sit for a while they move as if to their own different beat. When I saw this image on screen my first thought was that these blooms were dancing to a beat of their own. I used felt paper because I had it lying around and decided to give it a go.
