I like sunrise and sunset. I more inclined to be awake at sunset however.

Above the Vessels

Another little painting of Noyo Harbor in Fort Bragg, California. I think these two vessels had just unloaded their catch Above these boats were guys trying to put the catch into large containers.

Working Vessel

Another painting from the many visits to Point Richmond during my holiday in Northern California. I did a 3 by 5 watercolor as my last plein air piece of the day. I worked up the pastel that evening.

To My Left

This was the second painting outing of the day. We traveled back to Mackerricher State Park to paint the lake. When we got there the light was wrong and the lake waters had risen to the area I normally paint from. So on to the ocean side. I painted this onsite with Inktense pencils. Pam was hunting for rocks and shells.

Partial Tree Stand

I have been looking at this tree stand for years. This is the first attempt at painting it. Its outside the beachcomber inn. Its a main stay.

I tend to paint in any weather when my life is not threatened. It was foggy but the light in the foreground was very clear.

Muir Beach 3 Revisited

I worked from the plein air sketch I posted a few days ago. Pam was a trooper that day because it was windy and cold. She sat with me while I got in three little paintings.

Shadows and Surf (study)

This a a preparatory color sketch for a larger pastel. Of course its Northern California and more than likely this is Glass Beach (one of Pamela's favorite places to go). She normally looks for shells and glass for her collection. I take pictures and sketch.

Leggett Bound 1

An Inktense watercolor sketch made on our trip up to Leggett, California. I really liked this beach I think I have raved about the rock formations before on another post.

Pacifica Wave (study)

The waves in Pacifica, California were very aggressive when I was there a couple of months ago. The surfers and fog were out in full force. This my first visit with this image. I decided to do a study in watercolor. Watercolor painting forces me to think in values before I even put paint to paper.

Open Waves (in progress)

I'm trying to resist the urge to blend. I'm putting down a stroke but I think about it before I apply it. This is the first session with this piece.
