Mt. Diablo Fog and Rain
I recently had my first opportunity to visit California since the pandemic began. I really missed the majestic views. I went with Pam and her friends on a golf outing. I didnt golf but I did sketch and take photos of the beautiful landscape. This was my attempt at Mt. Diablo. The clouds and fog were amazing. The touch of the sun on the greeens was just beautiful.

A View of The Woods
This is a spread from my larger Illo sketchbook. I was sitting on the grass over looking the beach at Mackenricher State Park just outside of Fort Bragg. It was foggy and very atmospheric. This was an attempt to capture that. Fog really forces you to see values.

Bridge Fog
This painting started out as a sketch that I did in ink while Pam was driving over the San Rafael Bridge. I used some Canson drawing paper and randomly divided the paper into sections as I sketched. I added the pastel this week. Its always fun to work on these little sketches because they take me back to where I was when I did it.

Fog Tease
I call this one "fog tease" because that is what the fog was doing on the morning I painted the plein air study that inspired this painting. It would recede and then come back even thicker.

Hay Bales In Fog
Commerce is beautiful in deep fog. I was headed home one Monday and saying my goodbyes to family. This fog surrounded the landscape. I took a few shots from my car on the way to see one of my sisters. This represents two of my favorite things in a scene fog and hay bales. This type of scene and weather makes me feel cozy. I have to give a shout out to my two sisters. One has a birthday and the other has finished chemotherapy both are very strong women.

Foggy Old Walsh Tarrolton

At times I can't tell which came first the chicken or the egg. That is demonstrated here with this posting. The bottom version is where I started with this piece. The top is where I currently am. I almost can't tell the difference between them. This was inspired by a photo taken during the fog we had in late December of last year. I was shooting from my car and I was late for work that day. Fog is so very beautiful to me.
