I love the way that wait staff are dressed in some restaurants. They are dressed better than the patrons. This place is one of my favorite Cajun food places. I liked the young lady's hairdo on the right.

Long Gone Coffee Shop

Who remembers the Little City Coffee Shop that used to be on Congress? This is an interior painting. I used to love hanging out there. They had good food and interesting patrons. We once met there before a sketch crawl.

Manuel's Chef 1

I like this surface and the way it holds the pastel. I made it myself using archival mat board and Golden's Fine Pumice Gel. A palette knife worked better than a brush when it came to application. I only did one coat without sanding the surface. On Friday I had lunch at Manuel's in North Austin. This is a little painting of one of the chefs.

The second painting done while waiting for my lunch at Princeton Seafood Company. I like their food and the way the place is set up. They always have watercolors displayed on the walls.

A Late Lunch

I like painting small because it allows me to paint a lot of pictures in public places without being noticed. I painted this while waiting for lunch at Princeton Seafood Company in El Granado, California. This couple actually had a child with them. I used the SOHO Aceo trading cards and my Koi watercolors. The lunch was great. A nice salad and a big bowl of clam chowder yum.

Little City Revisited

I have painted this scene before. I enlarged an earlier painting to meet the decorative needs of a client.

True Scrutiny

When I have trouble focusing on what to paint, I randomly choose an old family photo. The image has to be painted before it goes back into the file.

Bloody Marys At Annies

Last weekend I met up with my friend Aaron for lunch at Annie's on Congress. While we were waiting for our food I noticed these three bloody marys sitting at the bar waiting for the waitress.

Hotel Inspiration

On the first night in Fulton, Texas I still had a little painting energy to burn. I finished this small watercolor before heading off to bed.

Signature Lounge Waiters

I must admit that I have changed this up a bit since this image. I shortened the third waiters apron and smoothed out a few raw areas. I love restaurant and bar scenes. I love the white shirts, ties aprons. People also are more relaxed and fun to sketch. The Signature Lounge that I refer to is the one in Chicago, Ill. Its on the 92nd floor and the views are amazing. that day we had an early dinner-thus the waiting waiters- and to the lounge for drinks later.

This is the first in my 2 part hotel lighting fixture series. I was sitting watching T.V. in the room and really liked this fixture. I used my little guerrilla painter paintbox and painted this one from life. 5 by 7 watercolor $100.00 pesos

Honey Ham VI

This is another entry in the Texas Honey Ham series. This is Cassandra and two of the many cooks they have on staff. Cassandra was taking orders and checking the status of orders already placed. I worked on Canson black paper on the smooth side with a variety of different brands of pastels.

This is the fifth installment on the Honey Ham series. I decided to work in watercolor for this version. Great breakfast tacos but you must order ahead.

This is another in the Texas Honey Ham series. This young lady is always nice and remembers my name. Golden Open acrylics on a 6 by 8 Raymar panel. This is the first visit with this piece.

This the second try with this image. The first one was posted as "Morning Sun". I used regular acrylic with the first version and open acrylics on this one. I like painting a series using different

mediums. I did draw it in pen before the first attempt at painting.

Honey Ham I SOLD

Texas Honey Ham is one of my favorite places to get tacos for morning breakfast or a salad (made to my order) for dinner. One morning I ordered a bunch of tacos for the office and this was the scene that greeted me. I was later than I wanted to be but the tacos were well appreciated. These are just two of the many employees that make this place run well. I used a Raymar panel and Golden Open Acrylics.
