Drawing Modern Childsplay

These two are clearly enthralled by a smart phone. Its amazing the amount of attention we give our phones. I try not to carry mine everywhere. In the actual photo a little blue from the screen was reflected on their skin.

Bale Drawing

Another exploratory drawing for a few landscape paintings. I like to draw a scene multiple times before getting to a painting. It helps with the values, composition etc. This is another scene from the Sulfur Springs highway in Northeast Texas.

Miles Study

The charcoal/graphite study that I worked on before the small watercolor. I worked in my Toned Tan sketch pad. This young fellow was fun to draw as well as paint.

Current Drawing In Progress

I'm currently working on this drawing. Its inspired by a young lady blowing bubbles at a recent family event. It was hard to photograph the bubbles they were blowing but that wont stop me from adding them to the final paintings.

Morning Rain

A nice rainy commute to work listening to NPR. Its almost fun if the weather isn't too severe.

Drawing in Progress

Little City Drawing

This is from my recent visit to Little City Coffeehouse downtown. I took a few photos and did some sketching while there. I think I will try working with oils for the larger piece.

I am still exploring this image. This is an 18 by 24 drawing that has changed a bit. I added a touch of color and darkened the values a little.

Talking Smoke Break

This is more a drawing than painting. I started out using charcoal but got tempted by the color at the very end. This scene is downtown San Francisco near the museum.

I took this photo of a homeless guy recently. This is the resulting sketch. When I first viewed the photo I thought about this man's untold story. We all have one.

Protest Prep Sketch

This is a practice sketch for a larger set of paintings. It's set in Boston, MA. The police were readying themselves for yet another protest march against our ongoing wars. I will work in both pastel and watercolor for this image. I took this photo just before the marching began. In the actual image the dominant color is the canary yellow of the police vests.
