Glass Beach Study

This is a preliminary painting in contemplation of a much larger pastel painting. This shot was taken last year during my annual birthday trip up to Fort Bragg, California. Watercolor is fun in that it is difficult to control what the pigment will do. An added bonus is that you can do what you want with color and if you can wing it it works.

This is one of my last paintings of 2008. I took it during a recent party. When I saw the drinks sitting there waiting for the bartender I had to get this shot. This is the first of about three paintings of this shot.

The Duo

For those of you that follow this blog, I have "finished" this painting many times. I recently posted it for a critique on another blog that I follow. I subsequently made some of the suggested changes. I agree with the critiques that said the background was too light. In the earlier painting the background was cerulian blue. As I write this post I can see changes I want to make. You know me I have to frame it to leave it alone.
